What is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner?+
An FDN-P is trained to use functional lab testing and a whole-person assessment to identify areas of imbalance in the body, then guide clients through personalized nutrition and lifestyle changes. It's an educational, wellness-focused role — not a medical one.
How is functional testing different from my doctor's labs?+
Conventional labs are designed to detect disease, so results are often 'normal' until a problem is advanced. Functional tests look at how well systems are working and where they're under stress, which can explain symptoms that standard results don't.
Do I need to stop seeing my doctor?+
Not at all. My work complements your medical care. I don't diagnose, treat or prescribe, and I encourage you to keep your healthcare providers involved — especially before changing any medication.
Are sessions in person or virtual?+
Sessions are virtual, so you can work with me from anywhere in the U.S. Most lab kits are shipped to your home and returned by mail.
How long until I feel a difference?+
Every body is different. Some clients notice changes within weeks; deeper patterns can take a few months. Your plan is built in phases so you can see and feel progress along the way.
Is this covered by insurance?+
Functional wellness services and most functional lab tests are typically not covered by insurance. Some clients use HSA or FSA funds — check with your plan administrator.
